TOPMAN - Water & Sewer Construction
Approximate start date: April 2026
WCL is looking for an experienced Topman to lead trench operations on our underground water and sewer crews. This role is critical to safety, accuracy, and production. If you know line and grade, understand trench work, and can help coordinate with a crew effectively, we want you on our team.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- 3+ years experience working as a Topman in underground water and sewer construction.
- Strong understanding of line, grade, and pipe installation practices.
- Ability to direct excavator operators to maintain proper trench depth and alignment.
- Solid knowledge of trench safety, and ground conditions.
- Experience working with stakes, hubs and builder’s levels/transits.
- Able to coordinate with pipelayers, helpers, and labourers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with foremen.
- Safety-focused with strong job site awareness.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
REQUIRED TICKETS:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
SCHEDULE:
- 7:00 AM - 6:30 PM Monday to Friday.
- 8 hour Saturdays (some Saturdays planned off).
- Some rain days off.
- Potential for backfill and prep work on some Sundays and long weekends.
