LEAD HAND – Water & Sewer Construction

EXPECTED START DATE: April 2026
 
WCL is looking for an experienced Lead Hand to support the foreman with day-to-day operations on our underground water and sewer crews. This role bridges the gap between the foreman and crew, keeping work safe, organized, and productive. 

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • 3+ years experience in underground water and sewer construction.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, Topman or Pipelayer.
  • Strong understanding of pipe installation, line and grade, and trench operations.
  • Ability to coordinate labourers, pipe layers, and operators.
  • Comfortable directing work, solving problems, and keeping crews on task.
  • Solid knowledge of trench safety and site safety practices.
  • Able to communicate clearly with foremen and project supervision.
  • Safety-focused with strong leadership skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
 
REQUIRED TICKETS:
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License 
  • WHMIS & CSTS 2020 (or willing to obtain) 
 
SCHEDULE:
  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM 
  • 8 hour Saturdays (some planned Saturdays off) 
  • Some rain days off 
  • Potential for backfill and prep work on some Sundays and long weekends
